Join us as we build a home for a family in need near Ensenada, Baja California! We will be partnering with Baja Bound Ministries to get a family out of a makeshift home and into a real house with a foundation, bedrooms, and furniture. Baja Bound works closely with local churches and ministries to identify families and continue support after we build the home.
Dates
We will leave Lake Havasu early morning on Friday, September 27th and return on Sunday Evening September 29th. Exact trip times and itinerary will be provided to participants as the trip approaches.
Location
We will be staying and serving about 30minutes south of Ensenada in a community called Maneadero.
Who Can Participate
You do not need any prior construction or building experience to participate. Nor do you need tools/supplies. Baja Bound will provide all the supplies, tools, and instructions needed. That being said this is a trip that will require physical activity, so if you have questions or concerns on what is expected, please reach out before registering.
Additionally, this trip is open to ages 10 and up, but participants under 14 will need a parent/guardian present, and participants 14-17 years of age will need a signed and notarized permission slip or a parent/guardian present.
Background Checks
Due to the international border crossings, and the nature of this trip typically involving minors, background checks are required for participants. You will be contacted by the staff member of Calvary who handles these to get set up.
Lodging
Our group will be staying in Baja Bound's group lodging homes which are located in a safe gated housing community just 100 yards from the beach. Lodging will be shared with 4-5 adults per room. Meals for the duration of the time in Mexico are included. Participants will need to purchase their food during travel to/from Mexico.
Travel Info
We will leave Lake Havasu as a group and carpool/caravan to Mexico together. We will have vans available to ride in. Additionally, if you want to drive a vehicle, you can caravan with us, but will need to purchase Mexico driving insurance. (We can provide assistance with this).
All attendees will need to have a valid and current US Passport or Passport Card to participate.
House Info
Calvary will be building a 16x20 insulated home on a concrete slab. We will also be outfitting the unit with furnishings, solar power, and water storage infrastructure.
Cost
The cost for the trip including lodging and transportation will be $200 per person.
This cost does not contribute any toward the cost of the house build which is $10,000. If you would like to contribute additional funds to help with the cost of the house that is a possibility as well.
