Week 4 - Concrete Pour

We get another major update to share this week! Concrete trucks are back on site. Today they will be pouring cement around the base of the steel uprights. This is largely cosmetic as the previously poured concrete serves as the strength of the foundation for the beams.

This pour will fill in the openings made for the footings, as well as cover the large flange base and bolts of the beams, allowing for a smooth and hazard-free floor once everything is done.

The crews that have been working on site are all enthusiastic about the project and are regularly asking about the rest of the phases as well as what long term church usage will look like. We even noticed a few of them sneaking some selfies in the building during the pour today. :)

Week 4 - Steel Setting

Last week did not have any updates to note, as the concrete foundations had to cure. There were some small tasks accomplished but nothing significantly noteworthy. That changed as we entered week four of constrution though, as the steel contractor was on site with the uprights and machinery to put them in place.

Over the course of a day and a half, all the steel support uprights have been put in place, secured, and leveled.

Once this is inspected, they will finish pouring the concrete floors that will fill in the openings over the foundation, and also conceal the attachment points of the beams.

Week 2 - Concrete Pour

Today feels like a big day in the construction process here at the Sweetwater Campus. While the last 10 days or so have been focused on demolition, deconstruction, and preparation, today we are officially adding materials back in and in the building phase as we embark on the first of two stages of concrete pours.

The 15 footing holes that were cut, dug, and filled with steel reinforcements for mezzanne support got their first dose of concrete added in today.

We are grateful for the crews working well to keep the project on schedule and build excellently!

Week 2 Update - Footing Construction

We are officially in the second week of construction at the Sweetwater Campus. The first week of construction was focused primarily on deconstruction and preparation work, and we are grateful that that went smoothly and we enter the second week on schedule and without issue.

Week 2 is focused on preparing for concrete pouring of the footings. The footing steel is being laid out and placed. Next the beam interfaces will be placed and tied into the footings.

If all goes smoothly over the next few days, concrete will be poured later this week and begin the curing process. Then it will be full steam ahead for placing the steel.

Construction Has Begun! - Week 1 Midweek Update

It is the middle of Week 1 of the summer shutdown and construction is in full swing. The remaining technology has been removed in preparation for the construction, doors have been removed to allow for machinery to enter, and crews have begun work.

The agenda of the week was to cut and dig the footings for the steel beams that will support the mezzanine. Crews have worked long days to diligently cut open the existing floors and dig to specified sizes the footings required for the new posts. You can check out some pictures and a timelapse of the work below.

Moving Day!

The time has come! The weekend of the Sweetwater Campus’ 9th birthday is the same weekend we relocated everything to the McCulloch Campus. We had an incredible team of volunteers join our staff in packing, moving, storing, and preparing the campus for the summer shutdown.

The weekend schedule at McCulloch is as follows:

Saturday: 5:00pm
Sunday: 7:30 (Classic service), 8:45, 10:00, 11:15am.

Celebrate Recovery is Monday nights at 6:30pm

Enjoy a timelapse of our move below!

Sound Panel Removal

As we continue our countdown to the closure of the Sweetwater Campus, we have removed the sound panels that hang on the walls to further prep for construction. These panels help control echos and reverberations of sound throughout the room. They will be hung back up after the mezzanine is built.

Room Deconstruction

The existing Mother and Family rooms will be deconstructed and relocated to make space for the new stairwells. New rooms will be built in front of the new stairwells. This work was done prior to the shutdown to save time during the shutdown and allow for more immediate construction of the new structure. Unfortunately, this means these rooms will be closed for the last few weekends of services prior to the shutdown and relocation to the McCulloch Campus.
